1 dead, 1 arrested in shooting on Sparkleberry Lane in Aiken County

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – A man has died following a shooting in the 1400 block of Sparkleberry Lane, one of six fatal shootings in the CSRA this week, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, the call came in Thursday at 6:50 p.m.

According to officials, when they arrived, officers found an unresponsive man with a head injury.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say the suspect, 61-year-old Vance Mack Fleming, was arrested at the scene.

Fleming was taken to the Aiken County Detention Center and held pending an arrest warrant for murder and possession of a weapon during a crime of violence.

The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office are continuing the investigation.

With the shooting on Thursday evening, the CSRA has now seen Six fatal shootings in nine days.
