Texan woman arrested in connection with fraud case in Arizona

PHOENIX – A Texas woman was recently arrested in connection with a fraud case in Arizona, authorities announced Tuesday.

Maria Rivera, 64, was arrested in Carrollton, Texas, in early July on charges of fraud, theft and identity theft, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

YSCO began investigating the fraud after a victim in the Prescott area reported an email hack that resulted in an unauthorized transfer of $40,000 to a bank account.

Based on bank records and other evidence that identified Rivera as the recipient of over $40,000, investigators obtained a search warrant for Rivera’s arrest and YSCO has contacted the Carrollton Police Department for assistance.

With the help of the Carrollton Police Department, YSCO detectives were able to arrest Rivera at your workplace and carry out the Search warrant in their residence.

According to YSCO, evidence during the search suggested that this was not the only fraud Rivera had committed.

Texas authorities will prosecute these cases. In addition, federal authorities have been notified because the alleged crimes crossed state lines.
