CEBU A 25-year-old e-bike rider landed in jail after being accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in a hotel room in Barangay Cogon Pardo, Cebu City on Tuesday night, July 9, 2024.

The arrested man, Ruel Lejista, is reportedly a friend of the victim’s family.

A police report said the incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

The suspect allegedly persuaded the victim to accompany him to get money somewhere and she agreed.

However, the minor was shocked when the suspect took her to a restaurant in Brgy. Bulacao instead.

Lejista allegedly forced the 14-year-old to drink alcohol and then took her to a shelter in Brgy. Cogon Pardo.

In the accommodation, he allegedly kissed the girl on the neck and forced her to take off her clothes.

Lejista allegedly abused the girl with his fingers. This happened after he allegedly could not have sex with the girl because it was the first time the girl had performed this sexual act.

The child’s worried mother sought police help at around 11 p.m. because she had not yet returned home at that time.

She told police that the suspect took her daughter.

However, the victim came home around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, and told his mother what had happened.

The mother, in turn, reported her daughter’s incident to the police.

After being informed of the incident, the Inayawan Police Station personnel conducted further investigation.

They arrested Lejista at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday at his house in the barangay.

Lejista reportedly told police when he was arrested that he was drunk at the time of the incident.

He also said that they celebrated his child’s birthday before he left and went to the restaurant.

At the time of writing, he is being held at the Inayawan Police Station Detention Centre pending rape charges.
