Ukraine support rally planned for downtown Atlanta on Saturday

A rally in support of Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia is planned for Saturday, July 13 in downtown Atlanta.

Supported by Atlanta-based HelpingUkraine.us, the rally will take place at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Marietta St. NW and Centennial Olympic Park Drive NW, near Centennial Olympic Park.

The rally came days after Ukraine suffered one of the deadliest attacks since Russia invaded the country more than two years ago. More than 40 people were killed when dozens of missiles struck several Ukrainian cities on July 8.

A missile hit the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in kyiv, the largest in the country. The Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital is renowned for providing intensive care to children, especially those with serious illnesses.

President Joe Biden issued a statement condemning Monday’s attack on Ukraine and vowed to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.

Members of the US Congress discussed the recent attack on the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, expressing strong condemnation of the attack and stressing the urgent need for international action and support for Ukraine.

Atlanta joins other U.S. cities in holding emergency rallies following July 8 attack.
