Officials identify East Moline man killed in LeClaire crash

LE CLAIRE, Iowa – The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has determined the identity of a man who died Monday, July 8, after his vehicle struck a tree in LeClaire.

The victim was identified as 38-year-old Vincent Holst of East Moline.

LeClaire police spotted Holst’s vehicle shortly before 5 a.m. near the T-intersection of Forest Grove Road and SW 35th Street.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Forest Grove Road, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection, traveled through the intersection and struck a tree on the east side of SW 35th Street.

According to a press release, officers removed Holst from the vehicle and attempted to save his life, but he was ultimately pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation.
