The company put the extreme weather protocol in place Monday morning and said operations would be suspended until at least 9:00 a.m. CT on Tuesday, July 9.

“This is a potentially dangerous situation, so we are activating our severe weather protocol to help keep our Houston community safe,” said Julian Crowley, a DoorDash spokesperson.

The hurricane caused dangerous and intense conditions, including street flooding and high winds.

DoorDash said it wanted to express its gratitude to its Dashers, merchants and customers for their understanding during this difficult time and emphasized its commitment to resuming operations once it is safe to do so.

The company will continue to monitor the situation closely, following the advice of local officials, and says it will remain in contact with all relevant parties.
