Police in Pueblo still searching for suspect after hours-long standoff, teenager hit by bullet

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) — A dispute over a missing bicycle led to gunfire and a standoff at an apartment complex on Constitution Road in Pueblo, according to Pueblo police.

The PPD said they were called to a report of shots fired at the Casa Del Sol Apartments in Pueblo in the 1700 block of Constitution Road.

Police learned that an adult man and his minor child were searching for the child’s stolen bicycle and discovered it in front of a residence. The same adult man confronted the residents of the residence about the bicycle, and shots were fired.

The above-mentioned youth was struck by a bullet, but fortunately the bullet was decelerated before impact and caused only minor injuries. Out of an abundance of caution, the child was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Pueblo’s SWAT team assisted with the response, as a suspect had barricaded himself inside for the shooting. A Pueblo resident filmed the standoff for over two hours while police investigated the scene. Several KRDO13 viewers said police were outside for hours and heard several gunshots before police arrived.

According to witnesses, the police did not arrive on the scene until 3:30 p.m.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified in this case. The investigation is ongoing.
