“Psychedelic party” in Hyderabad pub raided, 24 arrested for drug use

Twenty-four people who tested positive for drugs were arrested during a raid at a pub. The incident was part of a joint operation by Raidurgam police, a special task force of Cyberabad police, Telangana Anti-Drugs Bureau and the Prohibition and Excise Department (State Task Force).

The raid on The Cave Pub in Khajaguda under the jurisdiction of Raidurgam police station in Cyberabad was carried out following specific intelligence reports that an event called “Psychedelic Party” was being held there, which encouraged the consumption of narcotics and psychotropic drugs.

The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) has set an objective to stop large-scale drug abuse in bars, hotels and other areas and deployed teams of TGANB and SOT from Cyberabad with newly acquired technical equipment to carry out the raid.

24 drug and ganja users, including employees of multinational companies who tested positive for narcotics, were arrested. DJ Sandeep Sharma tested positive for ganja and cocaine and another DJ, Sai Gaurang, also tested positive for ganja and meth.

The managers of the pub, Abaullah Ayub, organiser and DJ, and R Shekar Kumar, manager along with his partners Rajesh, Abhinav, Sai Krishna and Sunny, are suspected of encouraging the drug users and allowing them to celebrate the psychedelic party.

“The users have voluntarily admitted their drug abuse. We have collected information about all the nodes in the entire chain. We will call their parents and the elders of their families and arrange for them to go to a detoxification centre. They will be tested five times randomly and must show a negative result. We also pray that they have not become addicted to weed and drugs,” said a police officer.
