Pratapgarh: Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh have come up with a unique way to determine the ownership of a missing buffalo. When two people argued over the ownership of the buffalo, the police suggested that the decision be left to the buffalo itself.

The buffalo finds its owner

Nandlal Saroj, a resident of Rai Askaranpur village under Maheshganj police, was the owner of the buffalo that went missing a few days ago. The animal strayed to Purey Harikesh village, where a man named Hanuman Saroj allegedly caught it.

It took Nandlal three days to find his buffalo, but Hanuman refused to give it to him.

This prompted Nandlal to file a complaint with the Maheshganj police station.

Property dispute

A panchayat meeting was held for several hours, but both men claimed to be the owners of the buffalo.

Shravan Kumar Singh, SHO of Maheshganj police station, then hatched a plan to trace the real owner of the buffalo.

Singh announced before the panchayat that the buffalo would tell who its owner was. The buffalo was to be left alone on the road and the person it followed would be its owner.

Nandlal and Hanuman were asked to stand on the roads leading to their villages, after which the buffalo was released from the police station.

The buffalo followed Nandlal and took the road to Rai Askaranpur. It was handed over to Nandlal and Hanuman was reprimanded by the police and the villagers.
