1 dead and 1 injured in shooting in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan (WOOD) – One person was killed and another injured in a shooting Saturday morning in Grand Rapids.

Around midnight, officers from the Grand Rapids Police Department were dispatched to the area of ​​Burton Street SE and Eastern Avenue SE after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.


The officers who initiated the operation found no victims at the crime scene.

A short time later, they learned that a man had arrived at the hospital with a graze wound, the GRPD said.

Around 3 a.m., a second call came in reporting that a man had been shot in the chest in the same shooting who arrived at the hospital. GRPD said he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

No information on suspects has been released.

It is unclear what led to the shooting.
