Man arrested for alleged rape of 5-year-old child in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — An investigation by Putnam County officials led to the arrest of a man accused of raping a child he was babysitting.

Raul Baltazar Sebastian Pascual is charged with aggravated rape of a child for an incident that occurred five years ago, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reports.

In December, officials were notified by a school counselor of the alleged rape of a minor, which led to an investigation.

The investigation revealed that Pascual was looking after a child who was five years old at the time when he stripped the child and raped her on the couch in the living room of the home.

Pascual was arrested on Wednesday and arraigned in juvenile court for the alleged rape, which occurred when he was still a minor.

A transfer hearing is expected to take place so that the judge can decide whether the case can be transferred to criminal court.

Pascual was arrested and charged with aggravated rape of a child. Pascual is being held without bail and has a court date of July 2, 2024.
