Shooting still under investigation | Free News

THE DALLES – A former resident of The Dalles was shot and killed on Walnut Street Saturday evening, June 22.

Officers with The Dalles City Police responded to a report of a shooting at 1015 Walnut Street at approximately 12:21 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Michael A. Boyer, a 41-year-old Southwest Washington resident who formerly lived in The Dalles, dead at the scene, according to a news release from The Dalles Police Department (TDPD).

The investigation revealed that several witnesses who were present at the scene of the shooting left the scene before police arrived.

The suspect was identified as Noe Zaragoza, also a resident of The Dalles. Citizens were warned that Zaragoza was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Zaragoza was arrested the next day at around 2:40 p.m. in Camas, Washington. He is innocent until proven guilty.

“This investigation is still very active and any information can help bring justice to Michael. We know of several witnesses who left before police arrived and we would like to speak to all of them,” the press release said.
