Juvenile charged under POCSO Act for raping minor

Uttamnagar police on Thursday arrested a youth from Haveli for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl between May 25 and June 3.

According to the FIR filed on June 26, the accused befriended the girl on Instagram and later met her in Uttamnagar. He asked her to accompany him on his bike and took her to a hut where he allegedly raped her and filmed the act on his mobile phone.

A week later, the accused took her to the hut for the second time and raped her. The accused threatened her with dire consequences and demanded cash and gold from her. He took ₹$8,000 from the victim and made threats.

Fed up with the blackmail and harassment, the girl gathered her courage and filed a complaint against the accused. Superintendent of Police Mohan Khandare said a case has been registered against the accused under sections 376(2), 506, 507 and the POCSO Act. No arrests have been made so far.
