Silver Alert canceled: Missing senior found 5 days after his disappearance

SAN LEANDRO, CA — Hongwei Yan, who was reported missing from her San Leandro home, was found safe in Richmond Wednesday evening and reunited with her family, according to San Leandro police. She was last seen near her home in the 1700 block of Clarke Street at 7:15 a.m. Friday.

San Leandro Police thanked the public for “the many tips we have received over the past few days. We appreciate the continued partnership with the public that allows us to successfully carry out our mission.”

Yan, 68, suffers from mental illness and is considered at risk.

In addition, she speaks Mandarin and may have taken Chinese money with her when she left.
