Teenager arrested for weapons and drugs

INDIANAPOLIS – A 16-year-old was arrested after being accused of illegal possession of weapons and drug trafficking.

In early June 2024, IMPD responded to reports of shots fired in the backyard of a home and stated that officers responded to the 200 block of N. Hendricks Place.

Once there, police found and collected bullet casings at the back of the house and were able to gather information about a possible suspect. This information was then passed on to detectives.

According to IMPD, investigators with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force were able to identify a 16-year-old as the suspect. They later received photographs showing the teen illegally possessing a “large number” of firearms.

On June 20, according to IMPD, ICGTF investigators saw the suspect exit a vehicle – later determined to be stolen – and enter the same home, with a firearm protruding from his waistband and carrying a unique bag.

Officers surrounded the house and ordered everyone to leave. Police said a woman, three minors and the 16-year-old suspect left the house and were arrested.

After searching the home, IMPD found: 10 firearms, 2 of which were subject to the National Firearms Act; 12 grams of suspected crack cocaine; 564 grams of marijuana; 20 suspected narcotic pills; pill presses and other narcotic paraphernalia associated with the trafficking and manufacturing of illegal narcotics; and nearly $5,000 in cash.

The teenager was arrested for possession of a dangerous weapon, auto theft and trafficking in controlled substances while armed.
