Prajwal Revanna’s brother Suraj claims extortion over false sexual assault, JD(S) worker arrested

A Janata Dal (Secular) worker and his relatives were booked after Suraj Revanna, brother of Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of sexually abusing several women, filed a complaint alleging that he was being blackmailed with a “fake” sexual assault case. The accused were identified as Chethan KS and his brother-in-law.

The complaint was filed on Friday by Suraj Revanna’s close aide Shivakumar, based on which an FIR was filed against the accused. In his complaint, Shivakumar claimed that Chethan had become his friend and started working for the ‘Suraj Revanna Brigade’.

Chethan asked Shivakumar for money to meet his family’s expenses, but his demand was rejected. Reportedly, Chethan had also asked Shivakumar for a job. Shivakumar gave him Suraj’s phone number, but when he did not get one, Chethan started blackmailing the JD(S) leader.

Chethan and his brother-in-law demanded 5 crore and threatened to sue him for sexual harassment if he did not cooperate.

Following the complaint, the JD(S) worker and his relative were booked for allegedly attempting to extort money from party member Suraj Revanna. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under sections 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (involvement of others in conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code against Chethan and his brother-in-law.

Who is Suraj Revanna? Suraj Revanna is the son of Holenarasipura MP HD Revanna and the elder brother of former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is in custody on charges of sexually harassing several women.

Meanwhile, Chethan also filed a police complaint on Friday and accused Suraj Revanna of sexually harassing him.

A special court in Bengaluru on Tuesday, June 18, remanded former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of rape and sexual abuse, in judicial custody till June 24. The 33-year-old had failed in his bid to retain the Hassan parliamentary constituency in the recent elections. SIT officials arrested Prajwal Revanna shortly after he landed at Bengaluru airport on May 31 from Germany.
