Wave of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia claims one life

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Friday that its air defense forces shot down 114 drones launched from Ukraine overnight. At least one person was killed in the mass attack.

“Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 70 drones over Crimea and the Black Sea, 43 drones over Krasnodar Region and one drone over Volgograd,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

In the southern Krasnodar region, a worker at a heating plant was killed when a drone hit the facility near Yuzhny railway stationsaid Governor Venyamin Kondratyev on Telegram.

In addition, several administrative buildings of an oil refinery in the Severski district were damaged, he said.

Since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure, including attacks on oil depots and refineries. The aim is to place a financial burden on the Kremlin and limit the supply of fuel to Moscow’s war machine.

Meanwhile, Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have crippled the country’s electricity generation capacity, forcing Kyiv to implement rolling power outages and import electricity from the EU.
