FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAY | Excessive heat with chance of storms

(WSAZ) – The center of the heat dome is currently working as we speak, although we are expecting some mid-level clouds that will block some of the sunshine over the region from the area and keep temperatures to only the lower and mid 90s. As the center of the heat dome (also known as the center of the high pressure center) works its way over us, drier conditions will also move in, driving out the clouds over the region by the afternoon. This will continue into tomorrow day, so the region will once again experience very hot conditions as we are expecting mid 90s temperatures.

The humidity will also increase slightly, so that isolated showers or thunderstorms could develop in the region in the afternoon hours on Friday. The same is expected for Saturday, before our next front moves through at the end of the weekend and the beginning of next week. This front will move through during the night hours from Sunday to Monday. Thankfully, we are not expecting any severe weather with this risk of storms. Because of this front, we will “only” see highs of between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius on Monday.

High pressure will build during the day on Tuesday, and there may be a few thunderstorms here and there on Tuesday afternoon. Finally, on Wednesday, the storm threat will increase as a stronger cold front moves through. Depending on the timing of this threat, strong storms could develop along this front. This will be a day we all need to keep an eye on, so it’s important to continue to monitor the weather. Temperatures will rise again to just above 35 degrees before this front passes through.
