Pocahontas County man dies in car crash in Greenbrier County

RENICK, WV (WVNS) — A 62-year-old Pocahontas County man died in a one-car crash in Greenbrier County on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

According to Greenbrier County Sheriff Bruce Sloan, a two-car crash occurred on U.S. Route 219 near Renick at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Both vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the crash occurred.

Further investigation revealed that the car in the southbound lane, driven by John M. Kinnison, 62, of Marlinton, crossed the center line and entered the northbound lane before colliding with the northbound car.

Kinnison, who was alone in his car, was ejected and died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver and passengers in the other car did not suffer serious injuries.

Members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, Frankford Volunteer Fire Department and White Sulphur Springs Emergency Services responded to the scene.

The investigation into the accident is not yet complete.
