Wagoner County kids show officers their own crime investigation | News

WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. – The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office said two young children brightened the minds of two police officers last week when they asked to show them their own crime investigation.

While Wagoner County Deputies J. Pearson and C. Andrews were responding to a call about possible threats in the Broken Arrow area on Friday, Deputy Pearson noticed two young children very interested in what they were doing.

It turned out that the children had been conducting their own criminal investigations.

The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office posted about the sweet encounter on Facebook:

“On 3/5/2024, Wagoner County Deputies J. Pearson and C. Andrews were dispatched to a residence in the Broken Arrow area to investigate possible threats. While speaking with the reporting party, Deputy Pearson noticed two small children who seemed genuinely interested in what he was doing.

The children began asking Deputy Pearson questions about police work, and Deputy Pearson gave them both Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office Jr. Deputy Badge stickers because they were so interested in his work. The children were very happy to receive the stickers and they disappeared while Deputy Pearson continued his investigation.

As Deputy Pearson and Deputy Andrews left, the children came back and asked if they could show them a crime and investigation they had been working on while they were at their apartment. Both children began showing the deputies the investigative equipment they had assembled.

They had put together a top secret folder containing a picture of the VIKTOM (victim) and a picture of the PROFF (evidence) that they had found during the investigation. In addition, they contained a picture of the MURDERER (suspect).

“The children had convened the court while Deputy Pearson and Deputy Andrews were busy and determined the suspect was guilty. The suspect should suffer the CONCONCE (consequence) of their actions by serving 35 years in prison, according to the two young investigators. Before he left the children behind I requested a picture with a deputy.

“One of the children told Deputy Pearson and Deputy Andrews that he was the first deputy they had ever met. The juvenile’s grandmother corrected the child and stated that Sheriff Chris Elliott had rocked the child in her rocking chair while deputies were on scene during a previous incident at her residence.

They were two great kids who certainly brightened Deputy Pearson and Deputy Andrew’s day!”
