BPS moving to half days next week due to excessive heat

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Citing excessive heat in the forecast, all Buffalo Public Schools will move to half days next week.

The decision affects BPS students at all levels of early childhood, elementary and middle school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The district said lunch will be served to all students before they leave at 10:55 a.m., 11:45 a.m. or 12:35 p.m.

High school students will benefit from a half-day on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They will not be in school on Monday due to the New York State Regents exams.

“High school students will be required to appear for their regular New York State regent exams during the remainder of the week. Water stations will be available for students taking regent exams,” BPS said in a statement Saturday .

Staff will have full working days at their assigned locations.
