Pedestrian struck and killed by NJ Transit train

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a NJ Transit train in South Orange on Wednesday morning, officials said.

An adult was struck by a Morris & Essex Line train at 9:12 a.m., NJ Transit said. The person’s identity was not available pending notification of family.

Train No. 6324 left Summit at 8:56 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station in New York at 9:42 a.m., officials said. There were 60 people on board.

According to NJ Transit, the Morris and Essex and Gladstone Branch trains are still up to 30 minutes late as of 11:45 a.m.
