More police officers are leaving the service in Louisiana than in most other states

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (KTAL/KMSS) – More police officers are leaving the force in Louisiana than in almost any other state in the United States.

Data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics analyzed by High Rise Financial shows that some states are experiencing incredible growth. Take Nebraska, for example. The state’s police forces have increased the number of employees. In May 2022, 4,330 people worked for the state’s police force. A year later, there were 4,910 employees. That’s an increase of 113.39% over 2022.

West Virginia’s police force grew by 110.99% during the same period.

The state with the largest decline in the number of police officers between 2022 and 2023 was New York, where 23.07% of employees left between 2022 and 2023.

Louisiana experienced the fifth-largest decline in police employment in the United States, falling from 17,630 at the beginning of 2022 before experiencing a one-year decline of 5.22%.
