Man found dead after house fire in Cleveland

CLEVELAND – Officials say a 55-year-old man was found dead Tuesday evening following a fire in Cleveland’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood.

According to the Cleveland Fire Department, emergency crews arrived at the 3200 block of East 123rd Street and found smoke coming from the second floor of a home. The victim was found on the second floor and taken outside, but paramedics determined he was dead.

The victim’s name has not been released. Authorities said there were “indications” that he may have died before the fire, but no official cause of death has been determined and the Cuyahoga County coroner will perform an autopsy.

The fire has now been extinguished and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The department reports that a resident of the ground floor was able to escape safely.
