MACON, Georgia — Editor’s note: The video attached to this article is from previous reporting.

The accident report into the death of Albert Knight – a homeless man found beaten to death in a Macon alley – reveals new details about the discovery of Knight’s body.

Knight’s body was found on First Street Lane near the rear of the Blacksmith Shop venue on Sunday, May 26.

According to the accident report, Knight was sleeping when he was killed. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said he was struck multiple times with a large, heavy object.

Paramedics from Atrium Health Navicent told officers they touched Knight’s body and found it to be “cold and stiff.” They told officers they did not touch anything else at the accident scene.

When police arrived at the scene on Sunday morning, Knight’s face and body were half covered with a blanket. An orange-gray backpack lay next to him.

The accident report indicates that his body had been at the scene for some time before he was discovered. We have reached out to the Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office for more information on the time of Knight’s death, but are still awaiting a response.

The sheriff’s office is still searching for the suspect and is asking the public for help in the search.
