1 dead after brawl at Lake Berryessa – NBC Bay Area

A man was shot and several other people were stabbed in a “large brawl” on the western shore of Lake Berryessa on Saturday afternoon, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said.

Henry Wofford, spokesman for the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, said the fight occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the Oak Shores Day Use Area. The public recreation area is known for beach activities, swimming and shoreline fishing.

The fight involved “at least two different groups of people fighting each other at the same time,” Wofford said. The public recreation area is known for beach activities, swimming and shore fishing.

One man was shot and killed while several others were stabbed in the incident. The slain victim was identified Sunday as 39-year-old Andres Fabian Sandoval Garcia of Vallejo.

Two people were flown to hospitals by helicopter. One of them has since been discharged.

According to a news release from the Napa County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, a suspect pulled a gun from his car during the fight and shot Garcia. The suspect then fled the area but was later arrested north of Lake Berryessa. Officials added that he was the other person flown to a hospital by helicopter.

As of Sunday afternoon, the suspect was still hospitalized and is expected to be transferred to a Napa County jail later this week, officials said, adding that the suspect’s name and mugshot will be released once he is arrested.

The investigation is being led by Napa County Sheriff’s Detectives. Wofford said anyone with information or video related to the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (707) 253-4504.
