Woman dies after BMW splits in two in crash on Memorial Drive

It happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. near Sawyer Street.

Houston police said the woman was speeding when she crashed sideways into a tree and split her BMW in two.

The rear half of the car caught fire as she was thrown from the car, police said.

Police said a good Samaritan pulled her from the wreckage and tried to help her before paramedics arrived, before she was pronounced dead at the scene.
