Suspect in custody after police chase ends in crash in Miramar – NBC 6 South Florida

Authorities surrounded a pickup truck and arrested a suspect after a chase ended in a crash in Miramar Thursday afternoon.

The pursuit began somewhere in central Broward, where officers were conducting an investigation related to a stolen vehicle, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.

As officers attempted to make a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle intentionally rammed an unmarked BSO vehicle, officials said.

The driver fled, and a chase began that continued south on the Florida Turnpike and ended at the Northwest 27th Avenue exit near Hard Rock Stadium, where officers stopped the van.

Aerial footage from Helicopter 6 showed officers surrounding the damaged van with weapons drawn before a suspect emerged with his hands raised and was taken into custody.

According to officials, no one was injured in the incident.

Further information was not initially known.
