CABALE: Teenager brought to court for rape

A 17-year-old youth was referred to the Kabale High Court by the Kabale First Class Magistrate for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.

The suspect (names withheld as he is a minor), a resident of Mubuhasya Village, Bushure Municipality, Hamuhambo Council, is accused of having on 29 Novemberth .2023, while at the same place he had unlawful sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl, contrary to Sections 123 and 124 of the Penal Code.

He allegedly raped the girl (name withheld) at around 6pm in Mubuhasya village when she went to buy salt. He allegedly called her and told her that he wanted to talk to her. When she entered the bar where he was staying, he pulled her inside and when she refused, he beat her and threw her on the bed, tore her panties and later had sexual intercourse with her. When she tried to raise the alarm, he turned up the volume of the radio, it is alleged.

The prosecution led by Rachael Nkwanzi informed the court that the investigation into the case had been completed and asked the court to refer it to the High Court for trial.

He was then admitted to prison by His Eminence Julius Mutabazi, Magistrate 1st Class of Kabale.
