Dead ducks found in East Valley SRP canal; why viewers are concerned

The Salt River Project’s Consolidated Canal near Cooper Road and Chandler Boulevard receives gallons of water for SRP customers. However, dead ducks were flowing into it over the weekend, according to ABC15 viewer Valerie Herman. She said more than 30 dead ducks were found either in the canal or at the canal gates on Sunday. “Some of them appeared to have been there for a while, but it was a collection of trash and garbage,” she explained.
