Previously, the University of the Philippines Los Baños made a separate announcement at 2 p.m.

“Due to the damage caused by Typhoon Aghon on campus and other parts of Laguna, classes at UPLB will be suspended tomorrow, Monday, May 27, 2024,” the university said in a release.

Exams and other in-person activities scheduled for Monday will also be postponed following the suspension.

According to the 5 p.m. cyclone bulletin, the state weather bureau said Aghon is currently over the coastal waters of Mauban, Quezon, packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (km/h) with gusts of up to 130 km/h near the center. The cyclone is slowly moving northeastward.

Following this development, the agency also reported that it transmitted Signal No. 3 over the eastern part of Quezon province (Infanta, Real, Mauban) including the Polillo Islands (Panukulan, Burdeos, Patnanungan and Polillo).

Laguna is currently under signal number 2.
