Telangana Anganwadi teacher raped and murdered, two arrested

Two people were arrested in Telangana’s Mulugu district on Friday, May 17, for allegedly raping and murdering a 50-year-old anganwadi teacher, police said, a report from PTI.

The woman’s body was discovered on May 15 in a forest area in Tadvai mandal of the district by some locals who informed the police and her son later lodged a police complaint.

During the course of the investigation, it came to light that the two defendants (aged 45 and 42) raped the woman on May 14 and later “killed” her when she resisted attempts to snatch the gold jewelry, it said it.

The woman was hit on the head with a stone and later strangled with her scarf by the two accused, who took the jewelry, police said.

A senior police officer said the 45-year-old accused, who was known to the victim, offered her a ride on a bike when she was returning to her house after duty on May 14 and took her to the forest area where he together with the second man The defendant is said to have raped her.

The accused have been booked under Sections 364 (kidnapping or kidnapping with intent to murder), 376D (gang rape), 379 (theft), 302 (murder) and 201 (disappearance of evidence of offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). .
