Another day with isolated storms, a wonderful weekend ahead

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Today is the last day of scattered showers and storms before the beautiful weekend. A cold front will bring lower humidity and plenty of sunshine for everyone’s weekend plans.

The forecast for today is very reminiscent of what happened on Thursday. Confidence as to how many storms will develop is still quite limited, but we expect a chance of two waves.

A few morning clouds will attempt to break through sunshine and create storm fuel in the area. A Level 2 risk of one or two strong storms remains today.

Based on the latest data this morning, the first round of showers and storms will arrive by mid-day. This round seems to be a little less common (as long as cloud cover lasts). We should see a few more storms through the afternoon and evening.

The main activity is expected to occur in the evening hours along the leading edge of the cold front. This should have the best chance of bringing a strong or severe storm this evening. However, if we continue to have cloudy skies, our severe weather threat will be limited like yesterday.

Outside of today’s storms, temperatures will reach the lower 80s. Some areas where rain will remain stuck in the 70s today.

THIS WEEKEND

Behind the cold front, colder and drier air is expected next weekend. Morning temperatures will dip into the upper 50s before rising to the low to mid 70s Saturday afternoon.

Lower humidity and a pleasant day will continue on Sunday for all outdoor plans. Sunshine makes for nice weather on Mother’s Day, the Goodyear 400 and the final round of the Myrtle Beach Classic.
