AVON, Indiana (NETWORK INDIANA) – According to a probable cause affidavit, an IMPD officer was arrested in Avon last Thursday.

A Hendricks County deputy stopped Sergeant Peter Fekkes in a 2021 Ford Mustang around 11 p.m. after noticing him crossing the center line while driving. When questioned, Fekkes apparently stated that he had eaten Taco Bell while driving as the reason for crossing the center line.

When questioned by police, Fekkes denied having had anything to drink. However, officers noted that he smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his speech.

Police noticed an open bottle of vodka on the floor of his car and after a blood sample, Fekkes was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.249, which is almost three times the legal limit. A blood sample was taken because Fekkes refused to take or submit to a breathalyzer test during the stop.

Fekkes was already suspended at the time of his arrest. The IMPD previously suspended him in April for another DUI incident that occurred in Ohio in 2022. The IMPD stated in a press release that Fekkes had “neither police authority nor police power” at the time of his arrest.

He is currently being held without bail in the Hendricks County Jail.
