57-year-old dies after being taken hostage in an accident involving police

A 57-year-old man has died following an early morning crash involving two officers in a Milwaukee Police Department patrol car. Milwaukee Police said they encountered a hostage situation near the city’s North Division neighborhood around 2:36 a.m. near N. 14th Street and W. North Avenue when they encountered a body lying in the street. First responders determined the 57-year-old died at the scene. Police said the person was originally struck by an older black SUV that fled the scene before the patrol car struck the body. Two Milwaukee police officers are being placed on administrative duty in connection with the incident pending the results of the investigation. The officers involved are a 38-year-old man with over four years of service and a 25-year-old man with over six years of service. The investigation is being conducted by the Milwaukee Police Department’s Homicide Unit with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol and is ongoing. A 57-year-old man has died following an early morning accident involving two officers in a Milwaukee police patrol car.

Milwaukee police said they responded to a hostage situation near the city’s North Division neighborhood and found a body lying in the street near the corner of N. 14th Street and W. North Avenue at around 2:36 a.m.

The first responders determined that the 57-year-old died at the scene of the accident.

According to police, the person was originally struck by an older black SUV that fled the scene before the patrol car picked up the body.

Two Milwaukee police officers have been placed on administrative duty in connection with the incident pending the outcome of the investigation.

The officers involved are a 38-year-old man with over four years of service and a 25-year-old man with over six years of service.
