Former Utah deputy sheriff arrested for child abuse

MONTICELLO A former San Juan County deputy sheriff has been arrested on suspicion of child sexual abuse.

Grayson Redd, 74, was booked into jail on Sunday after “an ongoing investigation into recently uncovered criminal conduct dating back at least two decades,” the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

According to the sheriff’s office, the allegations include rape of a child and sexual abuse of children and minors.

Redd was a former San Juan County Sheriff’s deputy. He retired in 2011, according to an article in the San Juan Record.

The sheriff’s office did not release specific details about the charges against Redd, and a probable cause affidavit was not publicly available in the Utah court system as of Sunday afternoon.

Officials said there may be additional victims and urged any victims of Redd to contact the San Juan County District Attorney’s Office Victim Advocate or the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.
