7-year-old sexually abused by neighbor

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexually abused by her 22-year-old neighbour in northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagari area, PTI reported on Saturday, citing police.

The accused was identified as Saurabh Rishi, who lives in the same area as the victim.

The incident took place when the victim’s mother was not at home and the minor was alone in the house in Nand Nagari on Wednesday.

When she returned, the victim’s mother found her crying and saw the accused in the house, a police official told PTI.

When the accused saw the victim’s mother, he ran away. However, he was caught by the people.

The victim’s father, an e-rickshaw driver, filed a complaint under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO) and the accused was arrested, police said.

Further investigations are underway, PTI was told.

Thane: Two men kidnap and rape 11-year-old girl

Two men have been charged with kidnapping and raping an 11-year-old girl in Thane district of Maharashtra state, PTI reported on Sunday.

The minor was allegedly sexually assaulted on the evening of July 12 while she was walking to Ambernath railway station, an official said, according to a PTI report.

The two men posed as acquaintances of her father and grandfather and allegedly took the minor in an auto rickshaw to a remote place.

They asked the driver of the car to leave the scene of the accident and raped her, the officer said, citing the FIR.

The duo also tried to stop the girl from telling anyone about the attack by threatening her with consequences, the official said.

However, the victim fled the scene, went home and informed his family about the crime.

Acting on a complaint from her parents, the Ambernath police on Saturday registered a case of rape under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said, adding that investigation was underway, PTI reported.

Thane: Man arrested for rape and murder of 9-year-old girl

Police in Thane district have arrested a man for allegedly raping and killing a nine-year-old girl, an official said on Friday. The official told PTI that the man was arrested after a passerby alerted them about the body of a child.

The PTI report said the accused, Abhay Yadav, 42, a resident of Govind Nagar, Bhiwandi under the jurisdiction of Shanti Nagar police station, kidnapped the girl on Thursday before sexually assaulting and strangling her.

According to the PTI report, another man was arrested by the Shanti Nagar police on Thursday on suspicion of killing his wife and dumping her body in a well in Bhawdhad village.

On Wednesday, Kanchan Das (36) killed his wife Laxmi Das (28) with a shawl. He then told her family that she had eloped. However, an investigation revealed his involvement in the incident, leading to his arrest, the news agency reported.

The suspects in both the incidents have been prosecuted under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which came into force on Monday and replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC), a senior police official in Bhiwandi told PTI.
