Travel warning issued for Friars Point due to ‘random’ shootings

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Coahoma County Sheriff’s Office has issued a travel advisory due to shootings in the Friars Point area.

The alert notes that there were shootings in the Friars Point area of ​​Mississippi from 8 p.m. until the early morning hours.

The alert said there had been several shootings near the highway and at the entrance to Friars Point.

“We suspect the shootings are related to gang violence,” the warning states. “However, they were random.”

The alert asks anyone who was or knows a victim of the shooting to contact the sheriff’s office at 662-624-3085.
