EF-0 Tornado Touches Down in Genesee County

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An EF-0 tornado touched down in the town of Pavilion and caused tree damage along a three-quarter-mile path Monday, the National Weather Service said. No injuries or deaths were reported.

Monday’s tornado comes after remnants of Hurricane Beryl spawned four tornadoes – one EF-2, one EF-1 and two EF-0s – that struck western New York state last Wednesday in a span of two hours.

According to the NWS, the Pavilion tornado reached 85 mph and lasted for two minutes between 3:50 p.m. and 3:52 p.m. The path of damaged trees ran along the center of Pavilion and continued through a small neighborhood on the west side of town.

The most significant damage was to trees at a residence near downtown, the NWS said. The tornado tracked just north of Pavilion Elementary School and ended before the intersection of Perry and York roads.

In addition to the affected residence, damage included several uprooted trees and numerous fallen tree limbs, according to the NWS. No other structures sustained significant wind damage.
