Greater Houston Disaster Alliance Launches Relief Fund to Help Victims of Hurricane Beryl

HOUSTON – In response to the significant number of households impacted by Hurricane Beryl, the Greater Houston Disaster Alliance will host a press conference today to announce the activation of the Hurricane Beryl Recovery Fund.

This fund aims to raise financial support for those affected by last week’s storm.

The Greater Houston Disaster Alliance, a joint effort of the Greater Houston Community Foundation and United Way of Greater Houston, organized this initiative to provide low- and moderate-income families with emergency financial assistance, home repairs and help accessing resources.

Support will extend to residents of the city of Houston and Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery and Waller counties.

Today at 1 p.m., Houston Mayor John Whitmire and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo will join the disaster alliance at a press conference to show their support for the fund. Other speakers will include Amanda McMillian, president and CEO of the United Way of Greater Houston, and Bob Harvey, co-chair of the Disaster Recovery Council and board member of the Greater Houston Community Foundation.
