Vigil for security guard killed by three teenagers

A community is remembering the life of a security guard who was attacked and killed. A vigil was held for 60-year-old Roy Love at the M&M Food Mart on Cooper Road, where he was killed by three teenagers after he told them to leave. According to Police Chief Joseph Wade, Love was providing security around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning when he approached the teens and told them to leave. Wade says the teens attacked Love shortly afterward, stole his gun and shot him with it. Kadaris Cohen, 16, Trent Wooten and Zaylon Norton, both 17, were charged with felony assault. Wade said Love never drew his gun.

A vigil was held for 60-year-old Roy Love outside the M&M Food Mart on Cooper Road, where he was killed by three teenagers after he told them to leave.

According to Police Chief Joseph Wade, Love was busy doing security work around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning when he approached the teens and asked them to leave.

Wade says that moments later, the teenagers attacked Love, stole his gun and shot him with it.

Kadaris Cohen, 16, Trent Wooten and Zaylon Norton, both 17, were charged with capital crimes.

Wade said Love never drew his gun.
