Why Homelander hasn’t killed Butcher & The Boys yet is finally explained

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for season 4, episode 7 of “The Boys”!

Homelander and The Seven could have killed Billy Butcher and The Boys a long time ago, but The young Season 4 finally explained why he didn’t. The title team in The young consists of mere humans, and due to the bloody trail of devastation Homelander has left throughout the show, it would be no challenge for him to kill them. Strangely, however, Homelander has decided against dealing with many The young Fans wonder why he continues to allow Butcher and the gang to try to defeat Vought.

The Boys and Homelander have been at each other’s throats since the beginning, with all four seasons of the series so far mainly showing how far the titular team is willing to go to kill Homelander. While it is incredibly difficult for humans to kill Homelander, the opposite is not true, as Homelander could kill Butcher and The Boys without breaking a sweat. Because of this, it has been a mystery why Homelander and the other members of the Seven have not killed her yet, but now an explanation has finally been presented.

The boys’ CIA status explains why Homelander didn’t attack them earlier

He doesn’t like their government status

Homelander’s decision not to kill the boys remained a bit of a mystery throughout the series, but is finally explained in The young Season 4, Episode 7. The episode shows a conversation between Homeladner and Sister Sage in which the topic of killing the boys comes up. Homelander explains that he can’t do that because the guys work for the CIAand explains why he can’t attack them.

So even though Homelander is capable of killing the Boys, he doesn’t believe he’s capable of bringing down the CIA. Homelander doesn’t want to upset one of the most powerful government institutions, and since the Boys are the organization’s pawns, Homelander can’t really touch them.

Supes have killed CIA agents before

While Homelander’s opposition to the CIA mission is reasonable, it doesn’t make sense given the show’s past. Homelander has killed some pretty well-known figures before, such as Robert Singer’s original vice presidential candidate as well as major superheroes. These killings could also put him in the firing line of U.S. government or Vought weapons, but for some reasonThe boys are one step too far.

This explanation is all the more strange when you consider that Victoria Neuman has already killed a CIA agent named Susan in The young Season 2, and it has all gone well for her. Although Neuman was not working for Homelander at the time, she has proven that she can take out her CIA enemies without great cost, something that Homelander learns in The young.
