Vermont man arrested for breaking into Lebanon, New Hampshire, store, police say

A Vermont man was arrested after police say he attempted to rob a New Hampshire store.On Monday, Lebanon police officers responded to a burglary at Twin State Coin & Treasures in West Lebanon. Witnesses observed Joseph Sharleville of Hartford, Vermont, smash the store’s window and enter the closed business. After searching the area, police found Sharleville riding a motorcycle as a passenger. After identifying him, they found he had two warrants for his arrest. Sharleville was subsequently arrested at the scene. Police also recovered over $600 in cash that Sharleville had stolen from the store.During the detention, Sharleville began kicking the cell door to prevent officers from entering and made several threats to their safety, according to the police report.He was eventually handcuffed. Sharleville was charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, criminal threats and resisting law enforcement.

Police also seized over $600 in cash that Sharleville had stolen from the store.

He was eventually detained.

Sharleville was charged with burglary, unauthorized theft, menacing and resisting arrest.
