2 Jersey City teens arrested in stolen Jeep; 1 suspect sought for stealing police car

Two Jersey City teenagers were arrested after driving a stolen Jeep into two occupied police cars in Secaucus, police said. A third suspect is on the run.

Authorities said the teens were spotted Monday in a stolen Jeep Wrangler at the Sunoco gas station on Route 3 East. When backup arrived, the 15-year-old Jeep driver intentionally rammed two occupied police cars to escape, injuring one officer and suffering a knee injury.

The driver and two passengers then ran away on foot. The passenger, a 16-year-old boy from Jersey City, was arrested a short distance away. The 15-year-old driver was pursued on foot by police onto Route 3 and arrested.

According to police, the third suspect, the back seat passenger, got into a marked police car and sped away. They say officers pursued the stolen Secaucus police car through Jersey City, Kearny and Newark. The stolen police car was later found in Hillside. The suspect is still at large.
