Meeting of the Central Executive Board of ENPO temporarily suspends the public emergency

The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) has temporarily suspended the state of public emergency following the Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting convened at its headquarters in Tuensang on July 3.

“As an important measure to promote mutual understanding and to reach a peaceful solution regarding the formation of the FNT by the Government of India, the ongoing public emergency in Eastern Nagaland declared on February 5, 2024 has been temporarily suspended. This suspension may be reviewed in case of compelling circumstances,” said a press release from the Media Cell (ENPO).

ENPO has also clarified, “We are discussing ULB nominations because an election has taken place. Eastern Nagaland did not participate in that election. Simply put, no election means no nominations. Therefore, the question of making nominations for ULB in Eastern Nagaland does not arise. So, the Chenmoho resolution and the ULB nomination process are closely interlinked,” the press release said.
