Orange County deputy arrested for allegedly shoving ex-wife Orlando Sentinel

An Orange County deputy was arrested in Volusia County on Tuesday after his ex-wife accused him of entering her home without permission to get supplies for work, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Patricio Goris, 49, denied pushing the woman and told officers he needed to get a ballistic vest and other items from the garage, which he said were “surplus items,” according to an affidavit . Court records show that Goris’ ex-wife filed for divorce in 2021 after more than 20 years of marriage, and while the records in that case are not publicly available, the affidavit states that part of their agreement is Goris forbade anyone to enter the woman’s house without permission.

Goris was charged with negligent assault and released from the Volusia County Jail on $500 bail. Court records show he has not previously been charged with domestic violence.

A spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, where Goris has worked since 2007, said he has been relieved of duty pending his criminal case. As deputy of the court’s security department, he faces an internal investigation once the criminal proceedings are completed.

“At the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, we hold our deputies to the highest ethical standards and we will not tolerate anyone in our ranks who breaks the law,” Sheriff John Mina said in a statement.

Goris is the latest Orange County deputy to face charges in recent months.

Most recently, Deputy Francisco Estrella was charged with unlawfully accessing a law enforcement database to gather information about a Seminole County Sheriff’s Office detective who was working on the carjacking operation of Katherine Guerrero De Aguasvivas, a Homestead woman later found dead in Osceola County was found. Estrella also recorded conversations with the detective under a false name and shared those recordings with Guerrero De Aguasvivas’ brother and husband, which were later found by investigators.

Estrella pleaded not guilty in the case.
