Woman killed by semi-trailer on north Sacramento County road

(FOX40.COM) — A woman was killed Friday when she was struck by a semi-truck on the Alta Arden Expressway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP said the truck driver stopped at a red light on the side of the road when a woman stopped on the same street to get onto Fulton Avenue.

As the woman began to cross the intersection in the crosswalk, the semi-trailer turned right onto Fulton Avenue.

The driver collided with the woman and medical personnel later confirmed her death at the scene. Drugs and alcohol are unlikely to have contributed to the accident.
