Osun Governor suspends adviser for misconduct

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday announced the suspension of his Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Mr. Emmanuel Adebisi.

The reason for the suspension was not given in a statement signed by Adeleke’s spokesman Olawale Rasheed.

However, it was said that the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Mr Kazeem Akinleye, would investigate the Adebisi case and report to the Governor.

“The governor has also ordered the immediate suspension of the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Emmanuel Adebisi, pending the outcome of investigations by the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Kazeem Akinleye,” the statement said.

But Adebisi gave a hint as to the reason for his suspension in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

In the post, Adebisi denied the alleged embezzlement of 70 bags of rice meant for distribution to members of civil society groups in the state during the last Sallah, insisting that he remained part of the Adeleke administration.

The post said: “It has come to my attention that recent reports circulating in the media about Comrade Adebisi Emmanuel, Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Civil Societies, are misleading and untrue.

“The allegations that I, Emmanuel Adebisi, have been blocked and removed from a WhatsApp group are categorically false.

“I will continue to perform my duties as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State with great dedication and tireless performance of my duties.

“Any insinuation that I was involved in any wrongdoing, particularly in relation to the alleged embezzlement of 70 bags of rice meant for the Osun civil society during the Eid-el-Kabir festival, is totally baseless and unfounded and the work of some embittered political fools. I urge anyone with facts in this regard to bring them to light.

“I, Comrade Adebisi Emmanuel, remain an integral part of the Osun State Government team and will continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity and devotion to service. We call on the media and the public to ignore the misinformation being circulated and refrain from spreading baseless claims that could damage the reputation of dedicated public servants.”
