FORECAST DISCUSSION:

A weather advisory is in effect for Central Ohio today as we expect high heat and humidity, along with the possibility of strong to severe storms tonight. Afternoon temperatures will be just above 35 degrees, with temperatures feeling close to 38 degrees at a heat index. A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m.

The warm and muggy conditions will arrive ahead of a cold front that we are tracking. There is a slight risk of severe weather in Central Ohio with heavy rain, gusty winds and some lightning. The greatest chance of these storms arriving will be between 5 and 9 p.m., but additional rain chances will linger until midnight.

We expect more rain overnight. It will remain humid with above-average lows at night for this time of year. Temperatures will fall to around 24 degrees.

On Independence Day, expect additional rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. Temperatures will be cooler, which will at least improve things a little. Highs will be around 30 degrees, which is almost seasonally appropriate for this time of year.

Additional rain and storm chances are expected on Friday. Skies will clear up through the weekend. Temperatures will remain at or below normal, and humidity will eventually become low.
