Police officer stabbed in Lincoln County, suspect dead

UPDATE (Thursday, May 9, 7:20 a.m.): A West Virginia State Police trooper shot and killed a man who stabbed a fellow soldier Wednesday evening.

West Virginia State Police said they stopped a vehicle on 10 Mile Road in the Lincoln County Ranger Area. According to police, the suspect, 46-year-old Harman Davis, ran into a wooded area.


When one of the officers caught up with Davis, he stabbed the officer multiple times, according to West Virginia State Police. Another police officer on the scene then shot Davis, who died from his wounds.

The soldier is recovering from surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington and is in stable condition.

This investigation is ongoing.


LINCOLN COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – A West Virginia State Police trooper was stabbed Wednesday night, according to first responders.

The incident occurred in Ranger Township in Lincoln County, and first responders said the suspect was shot at the scene.
